The Tampa Bay Buccaneers released their unofficial depth chart earlier this week and a new face was occupying the first team kick and punt returner duties — former Florida Gators wide receiver and undrafted free agent Solomon Patton, whom head coach Lovie Smith called “fearless” at just 5-foot-9 and 176 pounds. Despite his small stature, he’s shown a level of toughness that has won over teammates and could win him a job this weekend.
“I pulled up one highlight from one of the kick returns he had where [offensive tackles] Anthony Collins and Demar Dotson were the first two guys to go over there and congratulate him,” said Smith. “You have to earn your respect in the league and he’s started to do that just by the way he plays.”
Hear how Patton is handling this huge opportunity and how his time at Florida helped prepare him for this moment.
