Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Lovie Smith acknowledged that punt returns is an area he’d like to see the Bucs improve on, and on the second day of Bucs rookie minicamp, he talked about some possible options, including former Houston and WVU running back Charles Sims, who was selected in the third round of the NFL Draft.
“Yes, with new guys coming in, we searched their history a little bit, to see what they’ve done, from Pop Warner on. Charles has returned, feels comfortable with the kickoffs. I wanted to know if he’s ever returned punts – he hasn’t. If you have good hands, normally you can do a few things, and we’ll keep working on that.”
