Steelers OT Mike Adams Stabbed in Robbery Attempt

Pittsburgh Steelers offensive tackle Mike Adams is in the hospital recovering from stabbing wounds sustained in a robbery attempt.

The incident took place at his home in Pittsburgh’s South Side Saturday morning.

Adams’ agent Eric Metz told CBS Sports’ Jason La Canfora that Adams confronted three men who were attempting to steal his truck.

The altercation turned physical, which is how Adams sustained the wounds.

He underwent surgery this morning and is recovering at a local hospital.

“We are aware of the situation regarding Mike Adams being stabbed earlier this morning,” Steelers general manager Kevin Colbert said in a statement on the team’s website.

“We are in direct communication with both Mike and his family. Mike is expected to make a full recovery.”

A second-round draft pick out of Ohio State, started six games for the Steelers during his rookie campaign last season. He’ll be sidelined for approximately six weeks and is already focused on recovery.

At 11:28 this morning Adams tweeted, “I had an angel lookin out for me! Ill be ok just gotta fight to get back harder then ever.”

No arrests have been made in the incident.
