Report: Packers Raji Likely Out for Season

B.J. Raji Suffers a Torn Biceps

A big blow for the Green Bay Packers after multiple reports have their starting nose tackle B.J. Raji out for the season. Originally Packers coach Mike McCarthy said that he didn’t believe that the injury was serious, but further tests on Saturday have confirmed that Raji has a torn biceps. Raji suffered the injury sometime during Friday’s preseason game against the Oakland Raiders.

If Raji is in fact out for the season, then look for the Packers to turn to either former Florida State standout, Letroy Guion, or undrafted rookie, Mike Pennel. But either way, the Packers 3-4 defense has suffered a huge loss. Raji has been a mainstay on their defense for the past 5 years.

Now the loss of Raji is not as significant as losing Aaron Rodgers, it still may play a factor in deciding who wins the NFC North. I’d look for the Packers to keep an eye on the scrap heap, and possibly sign a player who gets cut during roster trim downs.
