Yesterday he was taken from his home in handcuffs and charged with the murder of 27-year-old Odin Lloyd. Now ex-Patriots star tight end Aaron Hernandez, whose world has seemingly come crashing down in the last 24 hours, faces yet another murder investigation.
A source told Boston’s FOX affiliate that Hernandez is being investigated for possible ties to a Boston double-homicide that happened July 16, 2012.
That night, three men were shot sitting at a traffic light after leaving a night club. Two of them, Safiro Furtado and Daniel Abreu, died. Two other men who were inside the vehicle were unharmed as they fled. It happened just after 2 a.m.
Law enforcement officials told the Boston Globe Thursday that Lloyd may have had knowledge of the two killings, providing Hernandez with a possible motive.
Hernandez is due back in court today at 2 p.m. for a bail review hearing in Fall River.
Yesterday authorities made a second arrest in the murder investigation involving Hernandez. 27-year-old Carlos Ortiz was arrested in Bristol. He is being held on $1.5 million bail.
