Minnesota Vikings Pro Bowler to Return Sunday

Kevin_Williams_2013EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. — Minnesota Vikings defensive tackle Kevin Williams should be “ready to go” on Sunday when the team faces the Chicago Bears, coach Leslie Frazier said on Friday.

The six-time Pro Bowler missed the Vikings’ season-opening loss in Detroit with a hyperextended right knee after a low block from San Francisco’s Joe Looney in the team’s third preseason game. It was the first game Williams had missed because of injury since 2005, but the defensive tackle said he was planning to return against the Bears.

He is listed as probable on the Vikings’ injury report, and though he missed practice because of a personal matter on Friday, Williams showed the team enough in practice on Wednesday and Thursday to convince Frazier he’s healthy enough to play.
