Bucs fans hoping recently-waived linebacker Najee Goode would return as a member of the Bucs’ practice squad will have to contend with seeing him in a different uniform this season.
He was awarded off waivers to the Philadelphia Eagles, the team announced Monday.
As the backup middle linebacker, Goode led the Bucs defense in the preseason with 21 combined tackles, 2 pass breakups, and an interception returned for a touchdown last Thursday against the Washington Redskins.
A fifth-round draft pick out of West Virginia last year, Goode saw action in three games for the Buccaneers as a rookie.
The Bucs were able to part ways with him because of the ability of special teams’ captain Adam Hayward to back up every linebacker position, which allows the team to address question marks elsewhere, such as the defensive line, or given the uncertainty of Carl Nicks’ health, the offensive line.
