NFL News: Eagles Looking to Turn Back the Clock
For two decades now the Philadelphia Eagles have worn “midnight green” uniforms…but that may soon change, as the team is reportedly talking to the NFL about switching back to their previous kelly green uniforms.
On Wednesday Eagles president, Dom Smolenski told a local radio station that the team was actively considering a return to its roots in kelly green.
“We have talked about it and there are some rules with the NFL that provides some restrictions that we’re trying to work through, but that’s going to take some time. It’s there, and it’s something that we do talk about, but until some things change at the NFL level it’s going to provide restrictions for us. It is being talked about it, yes.”
But a change will not come easy for the Eagles, as it is a lengthy two year process to switch a team’s uniform. Not only will they need approval from the league, but they will have to work with the NFL’s marketing team along with Nike, the official jersey provider of the NFL.
At this point plans of a uniform change are only in the infant stages. So there is no guarantee that the Eagles will gain league approval nor can we expect to see any on field changes anytime soon.
