It’s no secret that Gerald McCoy is one of the most valuable players on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ squad. After only two months of coaching the team, Lovie Smith acknowledged that McCoy’s contract extension will be a priority.
According to NFL.com, McCoy is supposed to earn about $15 million during the final year of his rookie contract.
Chris Wesseling, Around the League Writer for NFL.com points out that McCoy might want to wait to see what Detroit Lions’ Ndamukong Suh does. This will allow McCoy to gauge the defensive tackle market and see what his contract could be worth.
McCoy will most definitely end up with a pretty hefty extension. After all, he is a team leader and an exceptional player.
