Monday afternoon I joined Charlie Bernstein at 5:15 to talk about the latest from Buccaneers Training Camp and the emergence of a few ‘under-the-radar’ players that could stick around for a while.
Wide receiver Chris Owusu has impressed these last few days with several catches, including one during two minute drills.
An undrafted free agent out of Stanford last year, Owusu was branded ‘concussion-prone’ after suffering three during a 13-month span, including a head-on collision that rendered him unconscious.
The concussions caused several NFL teams to shy away, despite his 4.36 speed and stellar abilities as a kick returner.
He was signed to the Bucs last season after stints with the 49ers and the Chargers.
Another impressive player has been kicker Derek Dimke, who drilled one from 50+ yards out. With concerns over Lawrence Tynes’ range from 40 yards out, seeing Dimke go the distance is certainly encouraging.
We also discussed the team’s decision to rest Darrelle Revis and other players like Carl Nicks and Davin Joseph who are all recovering from injuries.
