They say that things come in threes and we’ve had three consecutive successful weeks of prognostication. Will this be the week that I come back to Earth? We certainly hope not.
Tampa Bay +7.5 @ Atlanta
The Bucs may be winless, but they haven’t quit…at least not yet. That likely won’t happen this week either as they play a decimated Falcons team missing most of it’s weapons. The Bucs will beat the spread, but Schiano happens. Falcons 16, Bucs 13.
Cincinnati +3 @ Detroit
The Bengals are going on the road two weeks in a row and I don’t expect them to secure two victories. Calvin Johnson is beginning to heal and that spells good things for the Lions, who are a bear at home. Lions 27, Bengals 20.
Buffalo +9 @ Miami
Although Thaddeus Lewis will likely come back to Earth against a very good Dolphins defense, the Miami offense will likely not put up enough points to cover a near double-digit spread. Dolphins 24, Bills 17.
New England -4.5 @ New York Jets
The Patriots will likely be without Jerod Mayo and Aqib Talib but the Jets will be without playmakers…of any kind. That said, Rex’s defense will keep this one close. Patriots 20, Jets 17.
Dallas +2.5 @ Philadelphia
This is an important game in the NFC East and many of the offensive advantages go to Dallas. That said, the Cowboys are a terrible road team. Eagles 31, Cowboys 24.
Chicago +1 @ Washington
This feels like a classic Vegas trap game as the Chicago Bears are rested and the better football team. I guess I have to fall right in because I think the Bears will win. Bears 27, Redskins 17.
St. Louis +7 @ Carolina
This is a matchup of two bad teams with a pair of inconsistent quarterbacks and underrated defenses. I can’t lay 7 points in a matchup this even. Panthers 21, Rams 17.
San Diego -9 @ Jacksonville
The Chargers are coming off a huge Monday Night Football victory over the Colts. Now they have to travel across three time zones to play a confident Jaguars team. This has all the makings of an UPSET SPECIAL!!! Jaguars 24, Chargers 23.
San Francisco -4 @ Tennessee
This feels like another Vegas trap as the 49ers are a much better team than the backup quarterback led Tennessee Titans. I’ll fall right in. 49ers 23, Titans 10.
Cleveland +10 @ Green Bay
This seems like a lot of points to lay with a team that could be missing two wide receivers and their best defensive player. I’ll believe in A-Rod while also believing that Brandon Weeden will throw a couple crucial interceptions. Packers 31, Browns 13.
Houston +7 @ Kansas City
Two picks: If either T.J. Yates or Case Keenum starts at quarterback give me Kansas City, 20-9. If Matt Schaub starts I’ll take Houston 23, Kansas City 20.
Baltimore -1 @ Pittsburgh
Neither team expected to have these slow starts but this is and will always be one of the fiercest rivalries in football. I’ll take the Ravens pass rush to knock around Ben and Baltimore to win. Ravens 24, Steelers 17.
Denver -7 @ Indianapolis
An extra motivated Peyton Manning playing in a climate controlled atmosphere on a fast track against a questionable defense. I’ll bite. Broncos 45, Colts 23.
Minnesota +3 @ New York Giants
This is probably stupid but I’m going to roll with the Giants one more time. No Harrison Smith in the Vikings secondary and Josh Freeman has had virtually no time with his receivers. Giants 27, Vikings 20.
