We finally broke through with our first winning week last week as we went 9-5-1 against the spread. That puts me at 32-27-5 on the season (.542 winning percentage). This week’s games look difficult so all bets are off….or are they?
Kansas City -3 @ Tennessee
The Titans have the home field advantage but they also have a backup quarterback. The Chiefs are a better football team and will continue to show it as they win this one with defense and a strong rushing attack. Chiefs 23, Titans 17.
Baltimore +3 @ Miami
How often do the Baltimore Ravens play terrible games two weeks in a row? I’m not sure but I do believe Ray Rice will have a bounce-back performance and Baltimore will pull off the UPSET SPECIAL!!! Ravens 31, Dolphins 23.
Jacksonville +11.5 @ St. Louis
This pick seems really stupid and maybe it will prove to be. I’m taking the Jacksonville Jaguars to not only beat the spread, but to……well let’s just leave it as the Jaguars will beat the spread. Rams 19, Jaguars 12.
New England +1.5 @ Cincinnati
When was the last time the Patriots were underdogs two weeks in a row? 2008 was the year. This is the first time they’ll play without Vince Wilfork in nearly a decade and the Bengals will find a way to get this done. Bengals 24, Patriots 17.
Seattle -3 @ Indianapolis
The Seahawks will have to travel across two or more time zones for the third time already this year. It makes no difference as Seattle will find a way to beat the slightly overrated Colts. Seahawks 24, Colts 20.
Detroit +7 @ Green Bay
The Lions have been playing great football and that should continue against the Packers. That said, I’ll take Aaron Rodgers over Matt Stafford. Packers 34, Lions 31.
New Orleans Saints -1 @ Chicago
The Bears turned the ball over 37 times last week (okay, it was only 4 times but it felt like 37). Chicago matches up fairly well with what I feel is the NFC’s best team and they will surprise the home fans with a ‘W’. Bears 27, Saints 20.
Philadelphia +3 @ New York Giants
There’s no reason to believe that the Giants will get their first win but that’s what I’m picking. Giants 27, Eagles 21.
Carolina -2 @ Arizona
Ron Rivera is a bad NFL football coach and Bruce Arians is a better one. I also like the Cardinals at home. Cards 22, Panthers 14.
Denver -9 @ Dallas
The Broncos look unbeatable and the Cowboys are up and down (or for simpler purposes, they’re the Cowboys). This will be an up week for Dallas as they nearly pull off the upset special. Broncos 31, Cowboys 28.
Houston +7 @ San Francisco
The Texans are a good team with a good defense. The 49ers are a better team with a better quarterback and a better defense. 49ers 24, Texans 16.
San Diego -5 @ Oakland
The Raiders aren’t very good and the Chargers have been playing over their heads. All that changes under the lights in Oakland as the Raiders have Terrell Pryor back and they will come close to upsetting San Diego. Chargers 24, Raiders 23.
New York Jets +10 @ Atlanta
The Jets defense is good enough to keep this thing close…unless Geno Smith continues to give out turnovers like Oprah gives out cars. Falcons 23, Jets 14.
