It’s a good thing the Tampa Bay Buccaneers signed safety Dashon Goldson to a five-year, $41.25 million contract this offseason.
ESPN’s Adam Shefter reported that Goldson was fined $30,000 for his helmet-to-helmet hit on Jets tight end Jeff Cumberland last Sunday.
Earlier this week Goldson admitted to getting a fine but did not specify the amount, only telling reporters it wasn’t in the range of Ndamukong Suh, who was fined $100,000 for a block below the waist.
Goldson was not the only Buccaneer fined. Linebacker Lavonte David was fined $7,875 for a late hit on Geno Smith.
