BREAKING: Carl Nicks Out Against the Patriots

Tampa Bay Buccaneers All-Pro guard Carl Nicks won’t be making his preseason debut tonight against the New England Patriots after all.

Around 6:30 Friday, 90 minutes before kickoff, the Bucs announced that Nicks would not be playing. As late as yesterday, both Nicks and Schiano indicated that he would, however.

Did Nicks suffer a setback, and if so, how bad is it? Or is this move merely precautionary?

“It’s no big setback,” said Schiano on the decision to keep Nicks out. “It’s better that we get him better for next week to play a considerable amount.”

Brian Leonard Out
The Bucs also announced that running back Brian Leonard won’t play Friday night. There was not a reason specified.

Other players who won’t participate against the Patriots and did not make the trip to Foxborough include guard Davin Joseph, wide receiver Chris Owusu, cornerback Danny Gorrer, tight end Zach Miller, and kicker Lawrence Tynes.
