Bucs Aren’t the Only NFL ‘Hoops Squad’

It appears the Tampa Bay Buccaneers were feeling just a bit slighted when NFL.com put out this tweet Wednesday, talking about the Chicago Bears’ receiving corps looking more like a basketball team:

Buccaneers general manager Jason Licht coined the team the ‘Dunk-aneers’ after drafting the 6-foot-5 Mike Evans and 6-foot-6 Austin Seferian-Jenkins to accompany Vincent Jackson and Tim Wright, in what should be an impressive 12 personnel grouping. So they countered with this:

While NFL.com tried to diffuse the situation, the Detroit Lions decided to get in on the action and one-up everyone with five…

Of course then NFL.com realized it was a football personnel grouping that would have stumped even Bill Belichick…(and quite possibly the Miami Heat in the NBA Finals)

It created a good laugh, especially considering there’s still a month until training camps open up and reporting date can’t get here fast enough.

It shows that the Bucs aren’t the only team coveting physical receivers with big catch radiuses and leaping ability. They also aren’t the only team with a good sense of humor!
