The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have signed former University of South Florida wide receiver Carlton Mitchell, the team announced this morning.
A product of Gaither High School in Tampa, Mitchell set an all-time record at USF with 1,648 career receiving yards and most 100-yard receiving games with five.
He was drafted in the sixth round in the 2010 NFL Draft by the Cleveland Browns, where he spent two seasons and played in 16 games.
In 2011, he had three catches for 31 yards receiving. He struggled with a calf injury and was released by the Browns in August of last year.
He was most recently with the Dallas Cowboys this offseason, having signed with the club in January. He also had a brief stint with the Jacksonville Jaguars last year.
He is expected to take part in team OTAs this week.
