Buccaneers – Ravens Preseason Game Live Blog

QB Josh Freeman is sacked by Chris Canty on Tampa Bay’s opening drive

Fourth Quarter

Mike Glennon finished the day 11 of 23 for 169 yards passing and an interception. He was replaced by Adam Weber.

On Weber’s first snap, he was picked off by Brandon Copeland. He appeared to just get spooked, as there was not a white jersey anywhere in the vicinity.

Weber’s pick set up a 29-yard field goal for Justin Tucker and the Ravens, so for those still keeping score, even though this is preseason — 34-16 Ravens.

On the ensuing drive, Webber threw another pick, this time to cornerback Moe Lee.

Third Quarter

Ravens backup quarterback Tyrod Taylor hit Matt Furstenburg for a 24-yard completion on third-and-6 to open up the third quarter.

Taylor coverted again on third-and-7 with an 11-yard short pass to LaQuan Williams. The pair connected again for a 21-yard touchdown to seal the drive.

Steven Means did have a tackle for a 3-yard loss to open that drive, although it’s clear the Bucs have some work to do with their reserves.

The third quarter meant Peyton Hillis stepping in for Brian Leonard. Leonard finished with 6 carries for 23 yards and a touchdown.

Hillis stepped in, rushing for 13 yards on 4 carries. He took a helmet to the knee, however, and left the game with a knee injury.

At 7:21, Mike Glennon was picked off by Asa Jackson on a pass intended for Chris Owusu. Owusu left the game in the second half with an ankle injury he appeared to suffer just before halftime as he was catching a pass along the sideline.

Mike Glennon continued to remain in the game, methodically leading the offense downfield to set up another Derek Dimke field goal, this time for a 45-yard field goal.

Danny Gorrer left the game with a groin injury.

Second Quarter

After Crabtree’s first down, Glennon found Chris Owusu for a 7-yard pickup.

Glennon then handed the ball off to running back Mike James for gains of 2, 3, and 4 yards respectively.

On third-and-6 at the Baltimore 17, Glennon failed to connect with Owusu, forcing the field goal unit out onto the field again, this time for a 35-yard attempt for Dimke, which he made.

As rain began to fall, and fans scurried from their seats to take cover, Chris Owusu muffed a punt, which was recovered by LaQuan Williams at the Tampa Bay 20.

Ravens backup running back Bernard Pierce charged up the middle for a 20-yard touchdown. The kick was good, giving the Ravens a 7-6 lead with 10:42 remaining.

With prime field position at the 41 yard line, the Bucs capitalized on two pass interference penalties by the Ravens, slowly inching their way into the red zone. Running back Brian Leonard ran in a 3-yard touchdown, giving the Bucs a 13-7 lead with 5:31 remaining.

Blogger’s note: For the first time in my professional writing career, I’ve just witnessed a kicker give a horse collar penalty. Way to go, Dimke.

Speaking of penalties…With 1:33 remaining in the first half, Keith Tandy got slapped with a facemask, setting up a 2-yard touchdown run for Anthony Allen.

First Quarter

The Bucs went three-and-out on the opening drive, with Chris Canty sacking Josh Freeman for a loss of 8.

Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco connected with Vontae Leach for a 14-yard gain, setting up a first down, and then found Ray Rice for an 11-yard pickup.

On first-and-10 from the Tampa Bay 41 yard line, Bucs linebacker Lavonte David sacked quarterback Joe Flacco for a loss of 10.

On third-and-15, cornerback Danny Gorrer jumped in front of Jacoby Jones, picking off Joe Flacco at the Tampa Bay 33.

A 20-yard completion on a sideline pass to Vincent Jackson at the Baltimore 5 was overturned, as Jackson did not maintain possession in bounds.

On third-and-9, Freeman found receiver Kevin Ogletree for a 6-yard pickup, bringing out kicker Derek Dimke for a 29-yard attempt, which he made, giving the Bucs a 3-0 lead with 4:14 remaining.

Freeman finished his night completing 4 of 7 passes for 34 yards passing, zero touchdowns, and zero interceptions.

Backup quarterback Mike Glennon stood tall amid duress and found tight end Tom Crabtree for a big 61-yard gain to end the first quarter.
