The Tampa Bay Buccaneers take on the New England Patriots this Sunday in Foxborough, and I joined Eric Lopez Friday morning on Sports Talk 1040 (Tampa) and 1080 (Orlando) to preview the game and talk about the latest from what was another busy week at One Buc Place.
Dashon Goldson successfully appealed his one-game suspension. We talked about reasons he was able to win the appeal, if the Bucs should be concerned with all of these penalties from their secondary, and how these players can adjust their tackling to avoid costly penalties.
We talked about Darrelle Revis’ meeting with head coach Greg Schiano and if fans should worry about an unhappy Revis. I gave my .02 on how I think that story got out and why it shouldn’t be an issue if the Bucs take care of the Patriots.
Then of course the game…
Eric and I talked about the Patriots’ injury situation on offense between Rob Gronkowski, Danny Amendola, and Zac Sudfeld, but why you still can’t count Tom Brady out, especially against a defense that has struggled two weeks in a row against tight ends (assuming Sudfeld plays with that hamstring injury).
The Patriots love to push the tempo and hurry the snap, and the Bucs defense has had problems with communication, particularly those last-minute changes as the play clock winds down.
We talked about the Patriots front seven and how they were able to rattle Josh Freeman in the preseason, and how their improved secondary with Aqib Talib matches up against Bucs receivers Vincent Jackson and Mike Wiliams.
You can listen to it all right here:
