Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Bobby Rainey is doing all he can to stand out in a crowded backfield, whether it’s pass blocking, taking pitches in the backfield, running it up the gut, or contributing in the short passing game. Here, he talks one-on-one with Jenna Laine about the competition in their running back group and how Jeff Tedford’s offense lends itself to versatility.
“When you have so many versatile running backs like that, it’s great to use them and use that ability, to be able to catch that ball out of the backfield and not just be one-dimensional. Before, we were just running the ball. I love the way coach runs his offense,” Rainey said after practice. “We’ve got a lot of great running backs who can move in space so why not emphasize that and take that and use it as an advantage?”
