Podcast Special Featuring College Football’s Larry Butler III

I welcome back D-II standout linebacker Larry Butler III as we break down my top five NFL rookies for 2014. We discussed the progression of QB Derek Carr, who was the top rookie on my list and how he has been able to thrive despite playing on the NFL’s worst team. Also discussed was the play making ability of first-round receivers Mike Evans and Kelvin Benjamin and what makes them so difficult to defend.

Like any list, there were some players who were very deserving, but did not make the top five. I share my reasons for excluding big-time rookie performers such as Odell Beckham Jr., Sammy Watkins, and Blake Bortles. I also explain my reasoning for adding two unlikely candidates, offensive lineman Ja’Wuan James and linebacker Anthony Barr to the mix as two of the top five rookies from the 2014 class.
