The NFL Draft is on the Move!
NFL News: 2015 Draft to be Held in LA or Chi-Town
The NFL is saying good bye to the Big Apple for at least the 2015 NFL Draft. On Friday the league announced that next season’s draft would be held in either the Windy City or the City of Angels. Most recently the draft has been held at Radio City Music Hall in New York, but for the first time in 50 years, the NFL Draft will be held somewhere other than New York.
The change in venue is due to a scheduling conflict at Radio City Music Hall. Next year’s draft will be held in late April, but the exact dates have yet to be determined.
It’s also unclear where the draft would be held in either LA or Chicago, but ESPN reports that they had some fierce completion from other cities to land the draft:
“We had 12 cities that were interested,” Goodell said. “We felt the best thing to do was focus on the three cities, because they had such a tremendous interest. There are very attractive aspects to each of those cities. Because we don’t have the appropriate dates in May, our focus is completely on Los Angeles and Chicago.
“They both have tremendous bids.”
Once a final location is selected, it’s expected that commissioner Goodell will announce the exact dates of next year’s draft.
