NFL Draft: First Ten Pick Predictions
Now that the 2014 NFL Draft is almost 30 days away, it’s time to create a mock draft of the first ten players that will be selected.
1. Houston Texans: QB Teddy Bridgewater
The Texans need a solid player at the quarterback position and Bridgewater is the perfect fit. Bridgewater would be easy to build around and teach a specific offense style to. He’s a sponge. He’ll learn what you want him to and he’s capable of performing at a high level.
2. St. Louis Rams: WR Sammy Watkins
Since the Rams might keep Sam Bradford at quarterback, they are in the market for a quick receiver. They need an offensive weapon to make plays and Watkins is the guy to do that.
3. Jacksonville Jaguars: QB Blake Bortles
The Jaguars need a prototypical position player who can throw and think fast. Bortles might need some work to really shine in the pros, but Jacksonville works best since he’s comfortable in Florida and he can mold into whatever they need him to be.
4. Cleveland Browns: QB Johnny Manziel
The Browns would be silly to pass on Johnny Football, if he’s still available at No. 4. There are rumors that they would pick Derek Carr ahead of Manziel, but I truly doubt that would happen. They haven’t met with the Aggies QB yet, but why wouldn’t they want him?
5. Oakland Raiders: OT Greg Robinson
Even though the Raiders have signed some pretty solid players like Donald Penn and Austin Howard, they could still utilize a player like Robinson.
6. Atlanta Falcons: LB Khalil Mack
Even after free agency, the Falcons still need assistance in the pass rush. Mack will definitely make a difference in Atlanta.
7. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: WR Mike Evans
This is a pretty obvious prediction since the Bucs just traded away WR Mike Williams. They need a receiver who can matchup well with Vincent Jackson. Evans would do some serious work for Tampa Bay.
8. Minnesota Vikings: QB Derek Carr
It’s rumored that the Vikings are a little hesitant to draft a quarterback in the first round since they have Christian Ponder, who they drafted in the first round in 2011, and then didn’t exactly live up to expectations. Nonetheless, they need a QB and Carr seems like a decent fit.
9. Buffalo Bills: T Jake Matthews
Since EJ Manuel is going through some tough injuries, protecting him, is a must. This is why Matthews is a smart choice. The Bills won’t go wrong with a rookie tackle like him.
10. Detroit Lions: DT Aaron Donald
The Lions do not need a receiver since they have the one and only Golden Tate on the field. But, Donald has been very vocal about playing in “black and yellow.” He played for Pitt and he wants to stay in the state. He even went as far to say that if the Chicago Bears draft him, he will force a trade so he doesn’t have to stay.
Someone is a bit of diva and he isn’t even in the league yet!
