Romero Osby is a coaches dream. Osby’s humble demeanor and pure gratefulness to play the game is refreshing.
“He brings a lot of energy to the team and he’s extremely coachable,” Magic head coach Jacque Vaughn said.
Osby was drafted this past June by the Orlando Magic with the 51st pick in the second round.
Prior to that Osby was chosen as Oklahoma’s MVP after leading them to the second round of the NCAA tournament last year.
The forward was selected first-team All-Big 12 while leading his Sooners in a number of statistics including scoring, rebounding, field-goal percentage, and blocked shots his final year.
Osby’s game translates well to the NBA. He has the ability to score in the post, mid range and from behind the arc.
The Magic will ask a lot of their young guy. Look for Osby to guard some of the NBA’s best like LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony.
“I’m looking forward to the challenge, I grew up watching those guys so I have an idea how I will guard them,” Osby told me during media day.
Osby will do the little things that don’t show up on a stat sheet. That kind of approach will get him sold minutes this season.
