Magic’s DeQuan Jones Won’t Receive Qualifying Offer

The Orlando Magic will not make a qualifying offer to SF/G DeQuan Jones. As a result, he will become an unrestricted free agent on July 1st.

Jones is a very athletic player who energized the Amway Center several times with his powerful dunks this past season. The 23-year-old averaged 3.7 ppg, 1.7 rpg and 12.7 mpg during his rookie season.

Jones will still be part of the Magic’s summer league roster and has a chance at becoming part of the Magic’s 2013-14 roster as an unrestricted free agent.

The Amway Center will be home to the Southwest Airlines Orlando Pro Summer League from July 7-12. The six-day event will feature 25 games among the Orlando Magic, Boston Celtics, Brooklyn Nets, Detroit Pistons, Houston Rockets, Indiana Pacers, Miami Heat, Oklahoma City Thunder, Philadelphia 76ers and Utah Jazz.

Last year, the Magic signed DeQuan Jones as an undrafted free agent on Sept. 29, 2012.
