The Orlando Magic haven’t made a splash in free agency this offseason, but they have added depth to a young roster.
The Magic announced this week the signing of point guard Peyton Silva. This following the teams decision to cut ties with Jameer Nelson, and draft Elfrid Payton in June. Silva, along side Ben Gordon will give the Magic some much needed depth at the guard position, while the franchise hopes Victor Oladipo will grow into a star.
Oladipo played well last season considering the team moving him into an unfamiliar role as point guard, with Silva and Payton now this may allow Oladipo to slide into his more natural role as a two-guard.
Siva was the 56th pick in the 2013 draft out of Louisville. He only played 224 minutes over 24 games for the Detroit Pistons last season, averaging 2.3 points and 1.4 assists in 9.3 minutes.
It will be interesting to see how head coach Jacque Vaughn utilizes his unique roster mixed with veterans, young guys and players with a lot to prove.
