The Orlando Magic have agreed to trade Ryan Anderson to the New Orleans in exchange for big man Gustavo Ayon.
Adrian Wojnarowski first reported a potential deal, while the Orlando Sentinel’s Josh Robbins pointed out New Orleans was Anderson’s destination and Jimmy Smith, citing league sources, reported the complete deal.
Anderson is a restricted free agent so Orlando is getting Ayon back to complete the sign-and-trade.
Anderson’s deal will be worth about $36 million over four years.
Ayon, 27, is originally from Mexico. During his rookie year in the NBA, the 6’10, 250 lb. power forward, averaged 5.9 points, 4.9 rebounds and 0.9 blocks per game. Ayon had a PER of 16.7, a rebounding rate of 14.5% and shot 53.6% from the field.
Ayon appeared in 54 games for the Hornets last season, playing over 20 minutes per game.
