Trevor Ariza and John Wall led the Washington Wizards past the Orlando Magic 98-80 Monday night. Arixza scored a team high of 24 points, while Wall added 16 points, four rebounds and 13 assists. Nene played a solid game as he scored 14 points and made three blocks.
The Wizards improved to 9-9 and reached .500 for the first time since the 2009-10 season.
The Magic struggled from behind the arc, they were 3-for-15 from 3-point range. Arron Afflalo led the Magic with 21 points, and rookie Victor Oladipo scored 13 points and had only one turnover. Oladipo was born and raised in Maryland and was excited to play in front of his family and friends for the first time since entering the NBA.
According to Josh Robbins of the Orlando Sentinel, Magic’s center Nikola Vucevic had x-rays on his left ankle after the game. The x-rays did not show any fractures and he walked out of the arena without crutches.
Veteran Jameer Nelson missed Monday’s game against the Wizards with a sprained foot. He suffered the injury Wednesday night against the Philadelphia 76ers. He is on the six game road trip with the team and is expected to enter the starting lineup in the next couple of games.
The Magic will play the Philadelphia 76ers Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m. ET
