Tuck: JJ Redick Returns To Orlando

Tonight should be a fun night in Amway Center as the Milwaukee Bucks come to town.  No way I am typing that sentence if JJ Redick wasn’t traded to the Bucks before the NBA trade deadline.  Redick developed into a solid rotation player and a fan favorite in Orlando and Magic fans were sad to see him go.

I think most fans understood the situation with Redick becoming a free agent, but in a season with not much going right and not a whole lot to like or even want to watch, fan favorites like Redick become all the more important in selling your product.  I am sure there will be plenty of #7 jerseys in attendance this evening, and a booming ovation for Redick when he checks into the game off the Bucks bench.

The good news for for Magic fans is that the trade they made to acquire Redick certainly hasn’t hurt the Magic.  They weren’t winning much before, and still aren’t now, but more importantly forward Tobias Harris has opened eyes since arriving.

Harris has averaged 16.3 points, 8.4 rebounds, 1.48 blocks, and almost 1 steal per game since joining the team.

Those numbers have without question cushioned the blow for the Magic fans still watching the team.  Harris looks like he could be part of the solution in turning the franchise around moving forward.

Tonight though, fans should pay tribute to a guy that was a key cog in the Magic’s recent success.
