NBA DRAFT: Joel Embiid Foot Injury
Kansas freshman star Joel Embiid will undergo surgery on his right foot less than a week away from the 2014 NBA Draft. Earlier today, Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports shared Embiid suffered a stress fracture on his right foot and would need surgery to repair it. Embiid is one of the top prospects for the upcoming draft but this injury may cause his draft stock to decrease.
In just one year at Kansas, Embiid suffered a knee, back and now a foot injury. This could be very unappealing to some teams but more information about his foot won’t be known until after surgery.
If the Cleveland Cavaliers, Milwaukee Bucks and the Philadelphia 76ers pass on the 7-foot center the Orlando Magic can take him at No.4. The Magic will likely pass on Embiid since they already have big man Nikola Vucevic and probably won’t want to take the chance at taking an unhealthy player as their top pick. The Magic hold the No. 4 and No. 12 pick of the 2014 NBA Draft.
The 2014 NBA Draft is set to take place at the Barclays Center on Thursday June 26 at 7 p.m. ET.
