Report: New Home for Jameer Nelson

NBA News: Jameer Nelson is Close to Signing

For the past decade Jameer Nelson has called the Orlando Magic home. But now it appears that the point guard is headed to the Lone Star State, to play for the Dallas Mavericks. ESPN’s Marc Stein is reporting that Nelson and the Mavs are closing in on a deal for $2.7 million.

For the Magic last season Nelson was a rather serviceable veteran who averaged over 12 points and 7 assists per game. He also shot 34% from beyond the arc. With The Mavs, Nelson could certainly provide some quality minutes off the bench, or he could serve as a capable spot starter at point guard.

With such a low price tag, this would be quite the value signing for the Mavericks.
