Orlando Magic tops Mavericks in preseason

oladipo-victor-dribblesMaurice Harkless led the Orlando Magic (1-2) to 102-94 victory over the Dallas Mavericks (1-2) with a team high of 16 points Monday night.

The Magic created a 20-point lead early on, but lost it in the second quarter. After half time, the Magic slowed the Mavericks down and regained control of the game by the fourth quarter. Harkless scored nine of his 16 points in the third quarter, which helped the Magic regain control of the game.

Rookie Victor Oladipo scored 12 points, pulled down 11 rebounds, had four assists and two steals in 26 minutes.

Despite turning the ball over 28 times, the Magic managed to keep Dallas shooting at 37.9 percent from the field. Defensively the Magic were dominate. They out rebounded the Mavericks 54-32.

The Magic rested Jameer Nelson, Arron Afflalo, Ronnie Price and Jason Maxiell giving roster invitees, like Mickell Gladness, Solomon Jones and Kris Joseph a chance to play. Gladness stood out with six blocks while Jones and Joseph scored 11 points a piece.

Up next, the Magic will travel to Houston where they will face the Rockets Wednesday night at 8:00 p.m. ET.
