Osby was selected in the second round (51st overall) in the 2013 NBA Draft. Just days after being drafted the young forward out of Oklahoma participated in the Orlando Pro Summer League.
In a span of five games, the rookie averaged 11 points per game, 4.4 rebounds per game and 21.2 minutes per game.
It was reported by Brian Schmitz of the Orlando Sentinel that Osby has been formally intvited to the Magic’s training camp, which is set to start Oct. 1, 2013.
At six-foot-eight, Osby was very productive for the Sooners this past season by averaging 16 points and seven rebounds per game. With several forwards on the roster, Osby will be fighting to get any minutes. Tobias Harris, Glen Davis (if healthy), Maurice Harkless Jason Maxiell, Kyle O’Quinn and Andrew Nicholson will mostly get the minutes at the forward position. The only two ways Osby will get significant minutes is if someone gets hurt or if he plays better than his teammates.
The preseason is set to being on Oct. 9 when the Orlando Magic take on the New Orleans Pelicans in Jacksonville at the Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena. Tickets are on sale now and prices range from $15 to $250.
The Magic will start its 25th ‘Silver Season’ season on the road. They will face the Indiana Pacers (Oct. 29 at 7 p.m. ET) and Minnesota Timberwolves (Oct. 30 at 8 p.m. ET) before returning to the Amway for the season home opener against the New Orleans Pelicans on Nov. 1 at 8 p.m. ET.
