The Mariotti Show streams live M-F noon to 3 ET.
Hour One on The Jay Mariotti Show: August 19, 2013:
Jay voices his continuing disgust that Alex Rodriguez is allowed to enter the daily American consciousness, impact pennant races and dominate sports conversation because of a painfully slow appeals process. He urges commissioner Bud Selig to apply his “best interest” powers and ban A-Rod immediately from playing for the Yankees, essentially forcing the union’s hand. Too many great stories, such as Miguel Cabrera and the Dodgers, are being dwarfed by A-Rod madness. Jay predicts more pitchers will throw at A-Rod. He also points out the incongruity of A-Rod helping the Yankees with a home run while the team’s front office wages a media war with him. Jay analyzes the debut of Fox Sports 1, criticizes Ryan Braun for throwing innocent people under the bus and discusses NFL quarterbacking battles.
Hour Two on The Jay Mariotti Show: August 19, 2013:
Jay can’t believe how A-Rod delights in taking on the world. He talks to callers about Rod and Selig. He gladly lightens things up with a travelogue segment on his Vegas weekend and an impromptu pool party with Ryan Lochte. Jay asks why LeBron James gets a police escort in paralyzing Miami traffic to a Jay-Z/Justin Timberlake stadium show
Hour 3 — Jay laments how A-Rod circus is shrouding stories such as Cabrera, Dodgers and AL East race. Jay says media have to keep covering A-Rod and PED stories to keep the athletes and sports honest. Jay resets Vegas and says he boycotted a Robin Thicke night pool concert.
