Mariotti Show: Friday August 16

Missed part of the show? Here’s a rewind of the program on August 16, 2013.

The Mariotti Show streams live M-F noon to 3 ET.

Hour One on The Jay Mariotti Show: August 16, 2013:
Jay denounces Alex Rodriguez as the worst of all sports scumbags amid reports that his camp leaked the names of Ryan Braun and his Yankees teammate, Francisco Cervelli, to the media in the Biogenesis scandal. Jay also worries that MLB’s public-relations war with A-Rod is damaging the game on the field and will mar the postseason. Jay talks to NBC Sports Radio’s Mark Malone, asks him how he’s functioning as a former NFL quarterback in his 50s who has taken many hits to the head and body — he’s doing well — and they debate which of the league’s young QBs will continue to prosper.

Hour Two on The Jay Mariotti Show: August 16, 2013:
Jay takes callers on the latest A-Rod issue. Jay interviews KISS legend Gene Simmons about sports, life and his new ownership of a new Arena League team — Los Angeles’ lone professional football franchise.

Hour Three on The Jay Mariotti Show: August 16, 2013:
Jay says he’d like to purge A-Rod from his consciousness but can’t — because A-Rod is appealing and the arbitrator is in the South Pacific (not really) and won’t rule on the case until November or later, which allows A-Rod to keep playing and remain a potential impact player in pennant races. Jay previews his Las Vegas trip this weekend and wonders how he got wrangled into a Robin Thicke pool concert. He asks for Vegas recommendations and sounds overwhelmed by the wildness ahead.
