The Orlando Magic will start celebrating its 25th Anniversary ‘Silver Season’ in less than a month when the preseason starts.
In honor of the ‘Silver Season’ the Magic have decorated the interior and exterior of the Amway Center with images of the past and present. Throughout the season, the Magic will reflect on their past achievements on-and-off-the court.
On-the-court, they will celebrate the accomplishments of five divisional championships (1995, 1996, 2008, 2009, 2010) and Eastern Conference titles in 1995 and 2009.
Off-the-court, the Magic’s community relations has impacted the community greatly. The team donates over $2 million to the community through sponsorships of events, donated tickets, autographed merchandise, scholarships and grants. Over $18 million are distributed to the Orlando Magic Youth Foundation and the Orlando Magic Youth Fund (OMYF-MFF) and have impacted over 1 million kids in the community. The organization impacts an estimated 100,000 children per year and annually provide over 6,000 volunteer hours.
The decorations for the ‘Silver Season’ include banners and logos plastered throughout the Amway. The pictures will include former Magic players Nick Anderson, Tracy McGrady, Penny Hardaway, Grant Hill, former Head Coach Brian Hill (led the Magic to the 1995 Eastern Conference Championship), Magic Senior Vice President Pat Williams, Magic Chairman Rich DeVos and current Magic forward Maurice Harkless.
The preseason is set to being on Oct. 9 when the Orlando Magic take on the New Orleans Pelicans in Jacksonville at the Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena. Tickets are on sale now and prices range from $15 to $250.
The Magic will start its 25th ‘Silver Season’ season on the road. They will face the Indiana Pacers (Oct. 29 at 7 p.m. ET) and Minnesota Timberwolves (Oct. 30 at 8 p.m. ET) before returning to the Amway for the season home opener against the New Orleans Pelicans on Nov. 1 at 8 p.m. ET.
