Magic Coast Past Pelicans in Season Home Opener

Victor Oladipo Orlando MagicThe Orlando Magic (1-2) took control of the game early on and beat the New Orleans Pelicans (0-2) 110-90 Friday night.

The Magic consistently made key defensive stops throughout the night and held the Pelicans to 34.8 percent shooting.

Offensively the Magic were very active as six Magic players hit double digits. Arron Afflalo led the Magic with 30 points followed by Maurice Harkless with 20 points and eight rebounds. Nikola Vucevic, Jameer Nelson and Victor Oladipo each added 10 points apiece.

Kyle O’Quinn blocked a team high of four shots, scored 14 points and pulled down six rebounds.

Anthony Davis scored a team best of 26 points and 17 rebounds but only made nine of his 23 shots. Jrue Holiday finished the night with 17 points, five assists, three steals and four turnovers.

Tobias Harris did not play because of a sprained left ankle. Solomon Jones has a torn meniscus in his left knee and might need surgery. He is waiting to get a second opinion on the injury before decided if he will get surgery.

The Orlando Magic will host the Brooklyn Nets Sunday night at 6 p.m. ET.
