Magic Center Nik Vucevic Ready to Take On Dwight Howard

Nikola_Vucevic_1Orlando Magic center, Nikola Vucevic is ready to take on Dwight Howard and the Houston Rockets but it’s not for the reason you may be thinking of. Vucevic is a young center in the league and wants to see how he matches up against the All-Star.

Last season, Vucevic was just .5 rebounds per game shy of matching Dwight Howard for best rebounding average in the NBA. Vucevic drew a lot of attention to himself when he broke 19-year-old franchise record of most rebounds previously held by Shaquille O’Neal by grabbing 29 rebounds against the Miami Heat on New Year’s Eve in 2012. The young center is talented but has a lot more room to grow.

For Orlando Magic fans Howard may be a sore subject but the Magic organization is looking at Wednesday night’s match-up as any other game, as they should. The only player that played with Howard during his days in Orlando is Jameer Nelson. Nelson might not even play because of a sore calf and an illness. The rest of the Magic players did not have to go through the Dwight Howard craziness so they view him and the Rockets as just another opponent.

Tobias Harris who now wears No. 12 is ready to take on the Rockets. Harris recently set a career high of 31 points against the Philadelphia 76ers on Sunday night. The young 21-year-old has taken advantage of all the extra minutes and starts now that Glen Davis is gone.

Magic will have leading scorer Arron Afflalo back after missing five games because of a sprained ankle and an illness. Tip off is set for 7:00 p.m. ET.
