MIAMI (AP) — Among players averaging less than 20 minutes per game, no one in the NBA is scoring more than Michael Beasley.
He doesn’t care about that.
When talking about his game, Beasley rarely wants to discuss what he does well. Instead, he wants to talk about defense, which wasn’t exactly a priority for him when he came into the NBA. Or he’ll discuss earning the trust and respect of Miami Heat teammates, something he calls an ongoing process.
That quest hits a significant milestone at 5 p.m. Tuesday. If he’s still on the Heat roster at that time, his contract for the rest of the season will become guaranteed on Friday.
For a guy who might have been running out of chances, it’s no small feat.
