NBA RUMORS: Lakers
One reason the Los Angeles Lakers are taking so long to hire a new coach is to hopefully hire either Miami Heat star LeBron James or New York Knicks’ Carmelo Anthony, according to USA TODAY’s Sam Amick. The Lakers aren’t keeping their options limited though, as they are looking at all potential free agents come July 1. The Lakers have been without a head coach since April 30, when Mike D’Antoni resigned.
Of course, the outcome of the NBA Finals will play a strong role in their decision making. There is hope all over the country that the San Antonio Spurs can pull an upset and inspire players to explore options elsewhere, come free agency. Chris Bosh, Dwyane Wade and James all have options for next year, worth about $20 million each and it remains to be seen whether they keep the big three together one more year.
