Three NBA players received fines from the league on Wednesday for flopping in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Finals between the Miami Heat and the Indiana Pacers.
In hindsight it almost seems like the $5,000 flopping fine that LeBron James received was foreshadowed with him recently making comments expressing his tolerance and support of flopping. Pacers forward David West was also fined $5,000 for flopping on the same play as James, as the two guarded each other!
Pacers guard Lance Stephenson was the third player fined $5,000 as a result of Game 4 flops after trying to draw a foul on Miami guard Ray Allen by exaggerating a reaction to a small bump by Allen.
David West’s foul on Dwyane Wade with under 6:00 to go in the game was also upgraded to a flagrant 1 foul by the league on Wednesday.
Miami is averaging almost 29 personal fouls per game thus far in this series. Indiana is averaging almost 26 personal fouls per game and one technical foul per game. This is also the second time in this series that a common foul has been upgraded to a flagrant 1 foul after league office review. If the pattern of this series continues, the physicality isn’t likely to decrease until a winner is decided.
