It’s hard for the Miami Heat to stay completely humble. Every now and then something slips out.
When Miami forward LeBron James was talking about how he believed Indiana Pacers coach Frank Vogel had called the Heat “just another team” (he didn’t), James proclaimed, “We’re not just another team. We’re a great team.’’
It might be a month early to proclaim the Heat “great.’’ After all, there don’t appear to be many NBA teams that didn’t win a championship to have fallen into that category.
For the most part, though, the Heat are remaining modest even though they’re heavy favorites to win a second straight NBA crown. The quest continues when they open the Eastern Conference finals Wednesday at AmericanAirlines Arena against the Pacers and Vogel, who actually said the Heat are “just the next team that’s in our way.’’ That was no apparent jab about their current standing on the greatness scale.
