Its NBA or Bust for Former Gator Wilbekin
NBA News: Wilbekin Looks to Make Jump to NBA
As a senior he led the Gators to a Final Four appearancebut now Scottie Wilbekin is hoping for much more as he pursues his dream of becoming an NBA player. And for Wilbekin that journey started in the NBA Summer League. Despite being undrafted, Wilbekin played for the Memphis Grizzlies in Orlando and during the Las Vegas Summer League he is playing for the Philadelphia 76ers.
While being on a summer league roster does not mean that you will be invited to training camp, Wilbekin has a great opportunity to showcase his talents for every other NBA team if he is not invited to camp by either the Grizzlies or 76ers.
So far in Summer League play Wilbekin has averaged 4.3 points and 2.7 assists a game, while logging around 20 minutes a game for both the Grizzlies and 76ers. At first glance these stats are not eye opening, but Wilbekin hopes that it will be enough to help springboard him into a future job, whether it be in the NBA, NBA D-Leauge, or even overseas.
Heres what Wilbekin had to say about the major differences about playing at the next level compared to his days in Gainesville.
