NBA Finals Game 7: Dwyane Wade Injury Update
Wade told reporters yesterday that he will now have to play through a banged up left knee after injuring it during Game 6, according to Kurt Helin of Pro Basketball Talk.
Wade sustained the injury when he and San Antonio Spurs guard Manu Ginobili collided, banging knees. It occurred in the first half when Wade was driving to the basket, and it clearly impacted him for the remainder of the night.
After yesterday’s practice, Wade told reporters that his left knee was still bothering him, adding that it was still stiff and swollen on Wednesday.
“Early in the game I took a good shot,” Wade said Wednesday after practice. “Right on my left knee, that’s the knee I had surgery on (this past offseason) so that kind of trauma to it at that moment it swelled up. At (halftime) I was trying to do as much as I can, as much treatment…. It was stiff, I couldn’t do as much as I wanted to but I just tried to do whatever I could.”
Wade will play in Game 7, it will just be interesting to see what he has left to provide LeBron James and the Heat. The Spurs are dealing with injuries of their own, most importantly to guard Tony Parker’s hamstring.
