Nationals, Tyler Clippard Avoid Arbitration

Washington wont be going to an arbitration hearing this year, as Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com reports that the Nationals and reliever Tyler Clippard have avoided the process by agreeing to a one-year, $5.875 million deal.

Clippard asked for $6.35 million and the Nationals countered at $4.45 million, so hes getting $475,000 more than the midpoint following a season in which he threw 71 innings with a 2.41 ERA and 73/23 K/BB ratio but recorded zero saves after racking up 32 in 2012.
