Nate Thompson: I Was in Shock to Get Traded from Lightning
With all the moving and trading going on in Tampa Bay, the Lightning are the center of NHL conversations right now. One player who didn’t think he was even on the trading block, got the shock of his career Sunday.
Lightning Center Nate Thompson got the call from GM Steve Yzerman Sunday night and he says that it’s been overwhelming but he has the utmost respect for Yzerman.
According to Joe Smith of the Tampa Bay Times, Yzerman told Thompson that the reason for the trade was to gain cap space. Thompson had a $1.6 million cap hit in the next three seasons.
Luckily, Thompson is being positive. He says he’s thankful for what Yzerman did to jump-start his NHL career and Tampa will always be home.
