In front of their first sellout since opening day the Tampa Bay Rays defeated the San Francisco Giants by a final score of 4-3. With the win the Rays improve their record to 66-45 and remain one game behind the Boston Red Sox who defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks by a final score of 4-0.
Like many of the players Wil Myers was impressed with the crowd:

The Giants took an early 1-0 lead on a trio of 1st inning singles but the Rays came back to take a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the 1st after Guillermo Moscoso hung a curve ball to Wil Myers who crushed it deep into the seats in left.
Roberto Hernandez was unable to protect the lead and gave up a 2-RBI triple to Brandon Crawford in the top of the 4th to give the Giants a 3-2 lead. In the top of the 5th inning Hernandez retired the first two hitters but allowed a double to Buster Posey and Joe Maddon , with a fresh bullpen at his disposal, summoned Alex Torres (3-0, 0.26 ERA) from the bullpen to face the left handed Brandon Belt .
The Rays came back to tie the game in the bottom of the 5th on a much needed RBI single off the bat off Evan Longoria which ended an 0 for 19 slump. The hit scored Sam Fuld who had stolen second base to get into scoring position. It was Fuld’s first stolen base since June 12th against the Red Sox.
After Alex Torres retired the side in order in the top of the 6th the Rays took the lead in the bottom half of the inning. With 2-out Sam Fuld delivered the go ahead RBI single off Jose Mijares (0-3, 2.87 ERA) to drive in Yunel Escobar to give the Rays the 4-3 lead.
With the lead in hand the Rays turned to Jake McGee who worked a scoreless 7th, Joel Peralta held the Giants scoreless in the 8th, and Fernando Rodney shut the door in the 9th to pick up his 27th save on the season.
The Rays bullpen worked 4.1 scoreless innings allowing only two baserunners on a double and hit by pitch and struck out 5.
The Rays will have the day off tomorrow before heading to Arizona to take on the Diamondbacks in a two game series. Jeremy Hellickson (10-4, 4.60 ERA) will take on Wade Miley (8-8, 3.68 ERA).Myers Crushes Homer As Rays Defeat Giants 4-3 by Steve Kinsella
