Murray Impresses At Raiders Rookie Camp

From all indications out of Raiders rookie camp, it appears as if former-UCF running back Latavius Murray has been a perfect fit in Oakland.

Murray is a lock to make the 53-man roster in August according to CSN Bay Areas Paul Gutierrez, and has a running style that mirrors the style of Darren McFadden.

The sixth-round draft picks most valuable asset may be his hands, and his ability to catch the ball out of the backfield. In his senior season at the University of Central Florida, Murray caught 22 passes for 231 yards and four touchdowns. Thats in addition to his 1,106 rushing yards, and 15 touchdowns on the ground.

Just the fact that I come from a pro-style offense, its a lot easier for me than some other guys who run that hurry-up offense, said Murray in a press conference with members of the Oakland media. I think Im able to take what we do in the meeting rooms and be able to come out here and perform well. I think thats the most important as long as you can play without thinking you can play fast.

Murrays quick on-field success has resonated with second-year head coach Dennis Allen.

He runs nice routes, hes extremely intelligent, so hes picked up the offense really well, and hes got really soft hands so he does a nice job not only catching the ball, Allen told reporters. But when you look at it, hes done a nice job picking up in pass protection.

Reports say Murray will most likely begin the season as a third-down running back while he continues to gain NFL experience. There are some expectations to see McFadden-Murray as the next 1-2 punch in Oakland.

Murray has yet to sign his rookie contract.

Updates will be provided on Murrays productions throughout the summer.
