Erik Bedard Delivers Six Scoreless Innings Allowing Just One Hit
Erik Bedard‘s first two starts with the Tampa Bay Rays were short and not so sweet. In back to back losses to the New York Yankees and Minnesota Twins he worked just 7.2 innings and allowed eight earned runs walking six and striking out six.
In his last three starts against the Boston Red Sox, New York Yankees, and Cleveland Indians he has fared much better. In the three starts he has a record of 2-0 and has only allowed two earned runs in 17 innings walking seven and striking out four. He has given up one earned run or less in three consecutive outings for the first time since June 20 to July 4, 2008
The last two starts against the Yankees and Indians were both quality starts (minimum 6 innings pitched, less than or equal to three earned runs). He has the last two quality starts by a Rays pitcher and is the only Rays pitcher to go at least six innings in the teams last seven games.
The victory over the Indians along with his win against the Yankees give him back to back wins for the first time since June 14-26, 2013.
