The last time the University of Florida lost was UConn back on December 3, 2013 on a last second basket by Shabazz Napier 65-64 on the road in Storrs, Conn. Since that cold Monday night the Gators have won 30 straight games, won the No. 1 rating at season’s end in all the polls and also they were awarded the overall No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament.
The Gators beat Dayton to advance to North Texas for the Final Four and a date — you guessed it the UConn Huskies.
They booked the rematch date with an upset win today against the Michigan State Spartans.
Shabazz Napier scored 17 of his 25 points in the second half and helped close it out at the line as the Connecticut Huskies knocked off the Michigan State Spartans 60-54 in the East Regional final of the NCAA tournament.
DeAndre Daniels collected 12 points and eight rebounds for No. 7 seed Connecticut (30-8), which will take on top overall seed Florida in the Final Four next weekend. Ryan Boatright scored 11 points for the Huskies, who are aiming for their second NCAA championship in the last four years.
There is no doubt that the Gators look forward to another chance to beat the Huskies.
