ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – With its first win over a Big Ten school in the books thanks to a 34-31 decision at Penn State earlier this year, UCF has announced it will travel back to Big Ten territory for a one-game showdown at Michigan Sept. 10, 2016.
Against current Big Ten teams, UCF has faced Nebraska, Ohio State, Penn State, Purdue and Wisconsin. The Knights are slated to battle the Nittany Lions one more time when the two schools clash in the Croke Park Classic in Dublin, Ireland, to kick off the 2014 season.
This will be the first meeting between the Knights and the Wolverines. UCF claims a 6-1 all-time record vs. teams from the Great Lakes State: 3-1 vs. Eastern Michigan and 1-0 vs. Central Michigan, Western Michigan and Grand Valley State. That includes one contest each against EMU, CMU and WMU when the Knights were members of the Mid-American Conference from 2002-04. The matchup with GVSU came in 1987 when UCF was en route to qualifying for the NCAA Division II playoffs.
UCF currently owns a 5-1 record and is 2-0 in the American Athletic Conference following a 38-35 win at No. 8/6 Louisville Oct. 18. That enabled the Knights to climb back into the top 25 as they rank No. 21/25 heading into their home contest with UConn Saturday at noon at Bright House Networks Stadium.
